BU CTE Website Redesign

In 2022, The BU CTE Center decided they needed to fully update the website with new services, information, research, opportunities, and increase the user-friendliness. Since our audience includes people who. have been affected by things such as Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), Repetitive Head Impacts (RHI), concussions and other brain injuries; the user-friendliness and access to information was extremely important to our team. We compiled a list of all website pages this niche of our audience would need and constructed multiple ways for our them to access those pages from our home page. We improved our menu based on the information you are seeking, but also included a brand new menu based on who you are which pulls up a page of pages that may interest you. In addition to this main improvement, we also updated all the information and added multiple pages based on new services the BU CTE Center began offering between 2015 and 2022.

Due to the majority of our audience having been affected by a brain injury or trauma, we decided to make our user-friendliness top priority during our redesign. Although we were using a Boston University template on WordPress, we found the easiest solution was an Interested Study Participant menu. This, once clicked, will bring up pages such as Clinical Studies, Brain Donation Registry, and other pages that may interest someone who has dealt with traumatic brain injuries.

Brand New Menu

In addition to user-friendliness, we added many services that were not included on our website. For example, Ray Nicks started a program called Virtual Brain Cuttings where organizations like medical schools or research centers can virtually sit in on our brain cuttings live and interact with one of the pathologists at the BU CTE Center.
